The DDV-Stadion stadium, formerly known as Dynamo-Stadion, Rudolf Harbig-Stadion and Glücksgas-Stadion, opened on June 16, 1923. After the 2009 renovation, the stadium currently has a capacity of 32.000 spectators. It is located near the city center of Dresden where it hosts all the Dynamo Dresden matches.

The SG Dynamo Dresden, also known as 1. FC Dynamo Dresden or simply Dynamo Dresden, was founded on April 12, 1953 in the German city of Dresden, in the east of the country. Since then, players such as Torsten Gütschow, Hans-Uwe Pilz, Maik Wagefeld, Volker Oppitz, Ignjac Maucksch, Olaf Marschall, Uwe Jähnig or Dirk Zander have worn the yellow shirt.
The golden era of the club was during the period 1971-1985, when the team won 5 times the DDR-Oberliga (1971, 1973, 1976, 1977, 1978) and 5 times the FDGB-Pokal (1971, 1977, 1982, 1984, 1985).
